TLDR - prepay at home, drop off, in and out in 2 minutes, beneifts of being a regional post office for extra speed of shipping, and open all hours and 8pam last pickup great for ecommerce Great for fast in and out prepaid ecommerce drop offs. I use the USPS website at home and print out my prepaid labels and pack it up. Then I just walk in past all the people waiting 30 minutes in line and just drop off the prepaid box into the bin where I can also scan the label and get the electronic shipping status immediately reflected as 'in transit'. This post office is also a regional post office so everything leaves here a day earlier than hub post offices.It is like getting priority mail for free and I have now switched to the ground advantage class which is even cheaper and about the same speed.

This post office is a black hole for lost mail. I have tracked several packages that arrive here and go missing or take weeks or months to re-emerge. The most recent - I tried to send a package internationally from another USPS in VA, and tracked it from the VA post office I mailed it to up to NY, then around NY for a bit before coming BACK to a post office in MD and now it is sitting in the dreaded Merrifield black hole where it has been sitting for over 3 weeks... I tried calling and no answer. Next approach will be driving out there to demand my package and a refund.

Our original mailman named Robert whose Outstanding, is out on knee surgery for the next 5 to 6 weeks. When he's not available or the Veteran Mailman or woman is not able to run Robert's route, we get screwed every time. This morning the post lady delivered our mail to the back door, really the back door. She never came to the front door to pick up what was in the basket. I understand about COVID, but when will the Post Office take responsibility that your new mail staff members is irresponsible and very lazy.

My premium forwarded mail pkg that my local post office put together and mailed to me shows it arrived and was scanned at the Merrifield Distribution Post Office on Feb 17th. Since then no activity- bills and important documents are in this mailing. Where is it?????? So maddening!

This is another grand example of everything that’s wrong about the entire Post Office Operation. I had a package come through here and everything has stopped for weeks. No one will pick up the phone and with all that’s going on I’m led to believe it’s either stolen by a personnel here or someone misplaced the package. What is the Post Master doing during all this? Wake up and start handing people resignations. And start here! I’m going to escalate my claim directly to the post master in the next day or two. I suggest everyone who is missing mail here to do so as well.

I sent a letter as certified mail on 12/9 from Maryland and have repeatedly called the Merrifield post office to find out the status of this item. After many attempts to call over the past month there has never been an answer, and my calls are disconnected after 10 rings. I have not received the signature piece of this certified letter and have no idea of the status of this item other than one failed attempted delivery on 12/12. I just want to find out the status of this item!

I've been waiting for a very important package that was mailed to me on 12/15/20. I've mailed out several packages to other states that arrived in 2 days. This place does not answer there phone!!!!?! I've called for 6 days in a row and still no answer all day everyday still no answer. They haven't sent my package out its been at there facility for 7 days and counting its FIRST CLASS MAIL! It should have already been here! I have medication that I can not go without that's suppose to be here today but still a week an counting and nothing.....AVOID AT ALL COSTS.... They should be shut down.

The service from our mail carrier, Roger, and our local branch, Fairfax Station is excellent. However, the service from the main branch in Fairfax City and the Bulk Mail Center is intolerable. Fairfax City does not answer its phone - 703-591-0458. I need to speak with them about the forwarding and hold mail instructions I submitted to them, electronically. The bulk mail center local phone number listed - 703-698-8777 is not a working number according to Verizon. The bulk mail center national number - 800-275-8777 does not accommodate the need to discuss my issue with a staff person. Its only responsive to "standard" issues with electronic responses, not option to speak with a customer service representative. As stated above, such service, especially since there is no other consumer option, i.e. the USPO has a monopoly for mail holding and forwarding, the condition is INTOLERABLE!! Please have an authorized USPO representative contact me, or provide a phone number at which a representative can be contacted. Looking forward to a USPO response.

This post office is EXTREMELY difficult to impossible to contact via phone...the line is ALWAYS busy...two days and counting. The national number only has the same number as listed on the post office's website too. So how would the post office be contacted by headquarters if there was an emergency?

I places a box on 12/12/18 @ Woodbridge Post office to be delivered to Mansfield TX 76063. I paid as priority mail. This box should be delivered to Saturday 12/15/18 and today was not received and the phone operator informed it was transferred to other facility, but no more information was provided. Post office is not working with the attention that the customer deserve and the prices are high I paid $44.40 and the delivery was not treated in this category.

I recently sent out my daughter's wedding invitations from The Franconia Post Office only to receive 13 of the 147 invitations back the next day from Merrifield Central Processing facility for insufficient postage due to "unmachinable" mail. Several of the envelopes were marked up and one had a juvenile math calculation scrawled across it and a large sticker covering the addressee at which even the postal worker at the Franconia Post Office shook her head in disbelief. I brought these invitations into the post office prior to sending them out to make sure we had the correct postage on them and was told and sold 71 cent stamps to cover the postage. Never was I told the invitation might not make it through a machine and would require additional postage! How did so many make it through the machine I wonder?! Not only am I concerned about our guests receiving their invitations, but now I have to have several invitation envelopes re-printed in order to send out late! Wedding preparations are stressful enough and I can't thank whoever at the Merrifield Post Office who was so nasty as to not process these invitations in the first place for causing more frustration and work! Nice Job!

In general I love the Post Office. However, I am amazed at how long mail forwarding takes. For a couple months I am having mail forwarded from Northern Virginia to Florida. The mail is mailed, for instance, February 1. It is postmarked about four days later. Then the forwarding label is dated maybe February 25 & mail received March 5. It appears to stay at Merrifield about 25 days before being forwarded. Is this correct? Why>

I changed my address on the website over a month ago. The mail is not being forwarded from my former address. The landlord is writing "return to sender - moved - no forwarding address" when my mail has appeared in my mailbox. Why is she writing this and why is the postal employees still delivering my mail to the old address in Rosslyn, VA? I feel that my mail is being tampered with since it is still being delivered to someone who is reposting my mail back to the point of origin. I must be not receiving bills and other important notices. Please investigate this, thanks!

I was told by another postal service that a package addressed 612 cicero DR ruther glen va 22546 was sent to your office and the new address is suppous to be 2252 Partlow RD Beaverdam va 23015 i think when it was returned from 612 cicero DR the other post office had wrong address to i dont think they changed the zip or somthing but the tracking number is 9405511699000047557621 and if you have that item it should be sent to 2252 Partlow RD Beaverdam va 23015

The experience was good,. Yes waiting time was long but if you have all the required documents in place like the Xerox copies , photos etc then the process takes only 10 mins at the window as we did. Chumming was superb, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond the call of duty. Cynthia helped keep the mood light despite a wait on a busy day. Everyone left smiling. You go to the Merrifield Post Office website and it says hours "MIGHT" be altered for New Years Eve.
You call the Merrifield Post Office on New Year's Eve and the recording gives you regular hours. Getting information out of the Post Office is impossible. And yet they are paid $20 an hour to start when they could easily hire the iilegals that Obama brings in for $8 to $10 an hour any time.

Very disappointed. I sent a Priority Mail, perishable package
on Mon, 29 Jun, with an expected delivery of 2 Jul; however, it never made it
there. The ability to track the package ended after it arrived at its
first stop - the Merrifield Post Office. In an attempt to locate my package, I
called or visited 4 US Postal offices (originating PO in Centreville,
the 1800 USPS number, Merrifield processing center, and the local PO in
Arcadia, FL). The online tracking system indicated the last scan was for
delivery at the Merrifield facility, but Merrifield said that sometimes
packages get through without being scanned; they said the package left their
facility and was enroute to its final destination. The individual at
Merrifield told me that if only I had sent it Priority EXPRESS (vs. simply PRIORITY
Mail); they would be able to track it. What?!? That makes no sense!! The only piece of
useful advice she gave me was to contact the local PO in Arcadia to see if they might have it.The Postmaster in Arcadia was very helpful and was able to
give me very detailed information about my package. He said my package was
scanned twice in Merrifield; once automatically by Small Parcel Machine #3, and
then again by an address and coding machine (physical scan). But he did not see
a departure scan and felt that the package was still in the processing facility
in Merrifield. Although Merrifield disputes that.I finally resigned myself to the package being LOST. But, how can someone on the receiving end provide me with all those details, but no one on this end could tell me anything other than “it’s
making its way to your final destination”? Very frustrating!I give Arcadia PO 10 stars and all the others 0 stars.

Neither Merrifield nor Belle View answer the phone. I paid $15 to the Passport office last week for overnight express of my passport. When I mentioned it to the carrier after three days he looked surprised and said he would have to talk to the regular carrier.
I was a strong advocate until this week.

Your mailing system is totally ridiculous! I paid $6.00 for 2 day delivery and $50.00 insurance from Woodbrige VA to Gardner IL 3/14/15and Merrifield loses the Package. The other package I sent out with this one made it to its destination in Greenfield IN. on the 16th. You guys dont answer your phone you have recordings for us to go online, you wont let me file insurance claim till so many days. This is futile... I had to call Gardner IL postal Services only because you dont care what happens to USMail.... Thanks for nothing Sophi

I visited the consumer affairs office at this location and was surprised at the quality service I received. I asked to speak with the manager and he was so nice and very knowledgeable. The non answered calls is absolutely frustrating. However! I found a loophole... Call the 1-800 number and tell them you need to speak with someone at that post office and you cannot get a hold of someone. That agent has other numbers she calls and connects you. I've done it once recently when I was about to go crazy after calling them.

I didn't think I'd ever write a review about a post office, but, kudos to everyone on staff at the front that helped process all the tax filers that came in after work on April 15th. I came in around 7PM and they had many people on hand welcoming, directing and assisting people to send their mail. I was utterly impressed given my diminished expectation of what I would encounter on tax day. Great job!

I frequent the Merrifield Post Office at least twice a week. Today is January 28, 2014, Tuesday, what is going on -- someone -- a police officer -- needs to be seeing what the heck is going on -- I find this hard to believe myself, but as I entered the one way entrance into the driveway a car was coming out the wrong way -- I blew my horn and HE kept coming; then today (I know, I cannot believe either) BUT I am going out the EXIT and a car is coming in from Lee Highway. What the heck is going on -- there is going to be a head on. I utilize Merrifield at least twice a week and it has been for at least five years. None of these drivers give a darn -- please help.

I live in Baker, WV and since the postal service closed at Clarksburg, WV all our mail now goes through your service. The post office at Baker does not get there mail from you on time and delivery has been terrible. We receive our newspaper "The Charleston Gazette" daily Monday thru Saturday but since it's been coming through Merrifield, VA first we are receiving our papers dated back as far as September. Todays paper was dated September 23rd and this is the 22nd of October. We pay to get our paper on time and now we are getting it a month behind. Can you please let us know what is going on. I would think things would have been worked out by now since this has been going on since the 1st of July. I don't want to cancel our subscription to the Gazette, but who wants to read papers 2 and 3 weeks late?

I have been calling everyday you are open for a week and can never get customer service to answer. I have a tracking number for a package that I have not received. You indicate it was delivered, but it was NOT! I suspect it was, like much of the mail I get, delivered to the wrong house.
The service (or lack thereof) from this post office is unbelievable.
