Our post office is great. No complaints there. However, we have had a series of mail carriers who simply dump our mail and packages on our front stoop in the POURING RAIN instead of putting it through our mail slot or even between the doors. Once, they did put the mail through the slot -- so clearly, they had access -- but then set the small cardboard package (holding a paperback book) on a chair outside instead of placing it in the ample space between the doors.Luckily I was home and happened to open my door to look outside before the package was destroyed. This is crazy!!! In fact, this verges on the willful destruction of US mail. Why?? What are they thinking???
Maybe there is some confusion, because on sunny, pleasant days, we open the inside door and lock the storm door -- because we don't want them to fling the door open and let my dog or cat out -- and THEN it's fine to leave mail outside on the uncovered stoop. But when both doors are closed, it's raining or snowing, and they have access to the mail slot -- or at least the dry space between the two doors -- they should protect the mail. (Right?) I am sitting here looking at a soaked, sodden pile of ruined, unreadable bills, letters, catalogs, and a package containing clothing that could have been ruined.The storm door WAS NOT locked. I checked -- but clearly they did not. They just dropped it and ran. Please advise me on how we can avoid this problem in the future. We don’t seem to be getting our mail.
I had it forwarded for two months but that expired a while ago.
Can you check on why we are not getting our mail please?
Also today my husband got an email that said a letter to him was returned and so there seems to be a problem in the post office.
