I have lived at my current residence which is serviced by the Vanderbilt post office (15486) for 22 years. In that time, there has been incident, after incident, with one of the regular carriers (there seem to be about 3 different ones for my route). First let me say, that 95% of the time, we are not home when the mail is delivered. So, many times in the past, if there has been a package too large for the box, she has sat it on the ground next to the post, or if it happened to have a nylon strap around it, she would hang it from the mailbox. This is nice if there should happen to be inclement weather, or someone not so honest drives by and decides to help themselves. Meanwhile, my front door is 30 feet from the road (not too strenuous of a walk, all flat) and there is ample space for her to pull off the road. In addition to this, she will pull up to the mailbox and BLARE her car horn, alerting all of the township that someone is getting package. Now, she has no way of knowing whether anyone is actually home or not, but she will sit there and blare the horn until, if I am home, I go out to her, or as I have been busy doing something at times, I don't go out and she decides she has to inconvenience herself and bring the package to the door. And let me add, it is very obvious she is inconvenienced, she has the most unpleasant disposition of anyone I have ever met. The other two carriers seem very considerate and do not behave in such a manner. They may "beep" the horn to alert me to their presence, but are very pleasant about coming to the door. I'm not sure why this one particularly miserable carrier feels that she really shouldn't have to earn her FULL federal benefits, paid vacation and I'm sure what is a more substantial salary than what I, myself, earn. After 22 years of it, I've about had with her, but I really don't want to have a confrontation with her myself. I can only imagine what would happen to mail then. And if this brought to the attention of the local Postmaster/Mistress, I'm sure they won't have any difficulty figuring out who it is, as unfortunately I do not know her name to give you.
