This is the Best post office for miles! Everyone is always polite and most helpful. Never, ever rude and I go to the post office on an almost daily basis. Run beautifully by WOMEN!! The red headed young lady was also terrific and extremely fast. I have never observed anyone be rude or receive inconsiderate treatment. Even those who haven’t sealed their packages before approaching the counter! Or people who behave as if this is their first ever postal visit!

I am in New Providence and my mail carrier hasn't picked up the mail at my house in weeks - Every time I put a letter out it sits there for days / weeks until I have to go and mail it personally. On top of them delivering the wrong mail of people who no longer live here, although I leave a note asking them to forward to the proper address. And they don't come everyday to check and see just in case there is something left in the mailbox for them to pick up TERRIBLE

My sister and I went to the New Providence Post Office today (12/21/20), located at 598 Central Ave. When we arrived only one customer was at the counter. I was called next as my sister I were together, because she needed assistance with her transaction. My sister kindly asked for (2) money orders. One for $100 and one for $50. She had a $200 postal money order that she wanted to use cash and use for the transaction. The employee started raising her voice saying that she did not have any change and that they had just opened. She opened her cash drawer and started pulling money out saying - see, see this is all I have. You can go somewhere else, but I don’t have it. So then my sister said - let me see if I have enough cash because I want purchase the money order. As my sister was pulling the money out of her pocketbook and trying to count it before giving it to her. The employee started raising her voice, saying you using cash - do you know it is COVID and people are using cash right now. You need to make up your mind, because my line is out the door. I only have so many minutes to wait on a customer. At that point I had, listened to enough of her being so rude to my sister. I asked to speak to the manager. She said that she was the manager - she said as a matter of fact I am the Postmaster. At one point she refused to give my sister her receipt. I asked her name as she was not displaying work ID. She said she was not allowed to give me her name. I informed her that I was going to write a complaint about the incident - she go ahead and remember I am the Postmaster. I am retired employee from the US Postal Service and I have never encountered this type of behavior from an employee. An employee of this nature should not be allowed to serve the public. I am going to forward this complaint to the highest level to ensure the appropriate action is taken. I am requesting that someone from Customer Services contact [number removed].

I live in Haven New Providence and last Friday at 3:00 pm I saw the postman, a white-haired, bearded man, lick his fingers before separating each envelope he put in the mailboxes in front of the building I live in. He was not wearing a mask or gloves, that is, he was not following the guidelines of COVID-19, which in itself already puts us all at risk, and on top of that he covered the envelopes with his own saliva. This is inappropriate, dangerous and disgusting behavior, which puts us at risk to all residents. I don't know if this company trains its employees, provides masks and gloves and guides them to use them, but if it doesn't, it should. I hope you take the necessary steps to make sure that it never happens again, because next time I will call the police.

For specific reasons I have no choice but to go to sometimes use the New Providence, NJ location. In my experience the workers at this location are rude, inconvenienced, dismissive, & generally put out by any and all customer interactions. I'm not sure of names, and I supposes to describe the workers would not be acceptable but the 2 lady's there today are regular workers there so I'm quite sure anyone who has gone there will experience the same condescending and rude behavior. I never, write reviews but my experience today was so bad I entered a complaint to the USPS website. I'm quite sure it's a complete waste of time but the 2 PO workers I interacted with today should be interactive with the public.

New Providence post office has the rudest, most color- and age-conscious staff member around--as several of us in standing in line witnessed for the umpteenth time today. The young, female PO worker with the red hair regularly waits kindly and patiently on certain kinds of people (e.g., the white suburban soccer mom with whom she spent 10 happy minutes offering helpful tips on buying mailing boxes) and is curt, dismissive and outright rude to people of color and the elderly. I am not the only person who was subject to her differential treatment today--or indeed on other several other occasions. If the PO wants to know why it's losing market share to companies like FEDEX and UPS, it should send investigators to places like NP post office. Send some elderly inspectors of color and make sure you discretely film what happens. It will be eye opening. I hope the New Providence post office gets closed down; many of us go to Summit, Chatham and other neighboring towns anyway because we're sick of being treated like second class citizens by the red-haired woman. And, by the way, such discriminatory conduct is ILLEGAL! I don't know how this woman's colleagues (two polite, helpful, informative women staff members) put up with their obnoxious colleague. I hope someone with some power sees this post, investigates further and gets rid of the person who's behaving so offensively. Perhaps transferring her to a predominantly non-white neighborhood would provide good training in equity and courtesy? In New Providence, she is tucked away and rests comfortable in the belief that no one will publicly call her out on her poor conduct. Shame on her--and shame on the PO if it continues to employ such people.

In my recent visit to post office the rep decided to make me wait on the side and ask others behind me to come forward who has mail with stamps only. The rep told me to wait as I wanted to send 7 parcels. She allowed 4 customers to go ahead of me including one that did not have anything to mail and took longer than anyone else. I waited 10 minutes in the queue and additional 15 minutes on the side when customers behind me went ahead. It was absolutely unfair to me or felt discriminated.

I find the lady who works inside to be both rude and condescending. Today I walked in with several letters to be mailed and she made a rude face, pointed toward the front door, and stated in a
sarcastic tone, "Didn't you see the mailbox outside? Put the letters in there." This was after she scolded the lady in front of me for swiping her debit card too soon.

Unfortunately I've had the same experience with her. Really uncalled for, especially in this great community - ruins an otherwise friendly neighborhood. Its time it should be rectified.
