I was very disappointed by the service yesterday at the Franklin Lakes post office. I clearly was in line well before the closing time of 5:30. The person at the counter accused me of crossing the barrier line when he clearly put it up behind the person who was actually behind me and had who had walked in just before 5:30. I had been standing in line at least 15 minutes before this barrier was put up and he still looked straight at me and told me to leave. He also got mad at the person that walked in behind the barrier well after 5:30, but ended up giving her a package that she came in late for. I am sorry that he is in a stressful position by not having help at the desk. It is not the fault of the customers in this case. The post office is a service organization paid by tax payers. They should treat all customers with respect as any company would that wants to keep their customers no matter what the behind the scenes situation is. It is very sad that I had to experience this especially since tax payers are pouring billions into this organization to keep it running. The post office needs to figure out how to "do more with less" as any service organization has learned when times are tough and not lose sight of the object of their existence.
