I am writing this to express my extreme disappointment concerning an encounter I had today with an employee at the Kendallville Fair St. location around 3:30. I entered the lobby and explained to the lady working at the time that I was there to submit passport applications and to have photo ID's taken of my children. She promptly let me know that they do not take passport request after 3:30 because they were just too busy during this time. I am sure my body language displayed my frustration due to the fact the your online information indicates otherwise and also due to the fact we pulled our kids from school to meet the deadline of 4:00. Once I communicated this to her her only response was to ask me where I was from (Huntertown) and then begin to question me and address me with a level of disrespect and obvious look of distain in her face. As I started to communicate the reason for not going to another location (we did but the photography equipment wasn't working) I couldn't get over the hostility she displayed so I told her to not look at me in that manner and that I wasn't an idiot. I didn't use any profanity or display any hostility towards her. Instead of apologizing for the bad internet info, her less than helpful attitude and my families inconvenience her response was to tell me that " you don't tell me what to do" and for me to "get out of the office". This was all in front of another USPO employee, another customer, and my 11 year old daughter. The lack of civility and professionalism from a Federal employee who is paid by tax payers dollars is mind boggling. Was I frustrated, absolutely but I in no way deserved the response and treatment I received, especially in front of my daughter. I know it is almost impossible to be fired or suspended as a Federal employee but I would ask that some record be put on file concerning this persons conduct. Maybe at some point some one in authority will be able to discipline such behavior. I have a feeling it is not the first time this person acted like that on the job and treat a patron so poorly. I am sure you have video cameras in place that will confirm this encounter.
